Statistics related to outpatient surgeries performed in acute care hospitals are available from 2006. Acute care hospitals that perform outpatient surgeries are required to submit all outpatient surgery discharges for a calendar year by March 1st of the following year. Hospitals use the UB04 format to collect data on hospital outpatient surgery. Outpatient sugery statistics are available by year, county, gender, race, age, discharge status, payer group, body system and procedure group. In addition to frequencies of encounters, additional statistics are available for encounters including percent and charges (total, average, 25th percentile and 75th percentile); procedures including number and percent; and patients including number and percent.
