Description:
In collaboration with the OSDH Office of Communications, this position will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating internal and external communications for the Center for the Advancement of Wellness related to the program's activities and accomplishments. This position will develop and implement communications plans that assure effective communication of the Center's mission, programs and priorities to key stakeholders, opinion leaders, the public and grantees. They provide direct consultation to grantees regarding the principles of public relations, planning strategically, and leveraging a variety of traditional and non-traditional approaches in communicating to an identified target audience to achieve a specific outcome. This position will also develop and implement a communication and social media plan focusing on the application of commercial marketing technologies to the analysis, planning, execution, and evaluation of programs designed to influence voluntary behavior of target audiences in order to improve their personal and collective wellness.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Serve as the Center for the Advancement of Wellness' initial point of contact for media outlets and the public.
2. Prepare program-related press releases, fact sheets, reports and other documents or products that are linguistically and culturally appropriate for an identified target audience.
3. Use social marketing to design and implement programs to promote socially beneficial behavior change.
3. Create and revise content for the Center's website to assure that it contains current information and is responsive to the needs of the key stakeholders, opinion leaders, grantees and the public.
4. Provides consultation and tactical assistance to grantees and collaborative partners.
5. Provides consultation to grantees in integrating messaging research into communications efforts.
6. In collaboration with Center staff, develop a strategic communication plan to be implemented in conjunction with the Center's broad strategic plans.
7. Prepare speeches and talking points and coordinate and prepare staff for television, radio or newspaper interviews, editorial boards, press conferences or other media or public events.
8. Develop special educational and promotional materials for presentation at exhibits, conferences and professional meetings.
Education and Work Experience:
This position requires a bachelor's degree in public relations, advertising, marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field and a minimum of five years of professional-level experience utilizing public relations principles, techniques and practices.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
This position requires knowledge of and experience in effective public speaking techniques and the ability to present complex information in an effective and concise manner. Knowledge of and experience in discerning appropriate channels of communication to reach targeted audiences, including special populations. Ability to form effective working relationships with media outlets, program staff, opinion leaders, elected officials, evaluators, grantees and national, state and local partner organizations. Proficient in written and oral communication and public relations. Ability to apply commercial marketing technologies to the analysis, planning, execution, and evaluation of programs designed to influence voluntary behavior of target audiences in order to improve their personal and collective wellness.
Other:
Position requires possible response to public health emergencies including, but not limited to, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, or catastrophic events.
