Salary:

$2423.24 Bi-weekly (based on education and experience)

Description:

This position will provide advanced health care to individuals. This includes assessing health, as well as analyzing data to determine medical and nursing needs. Will provide Nurse Practitioner services to clients in 2 counties - 5 sites. Performs complete exams, selects method of contraception and counsels clients.

 

Duties include, but are not limited to:

This position will provide Family Planning services for Creek and Pawnee County Health Departments.   Duties include, but are not limited to:

- Performing comprehensive physical examinations.

- Securing health histories.

- Performing or ordering laboratory tests.

- Conducting other appropriate procedures to assess the health status of patients or clients.

- Planning a strategy to meet identified health care needs.

- Reviewing and analyzing laboratory tests and other diagnostic data.

- Prescribing types of birth control and medication for treatment.

- Counseling patients on health problems, prescribed treatments and the use of drugs.

- Providing continuity of an individualized health care program for clients.

- Referring or collaborating with physicians and other members of the health care team, when needed.

 

Education and Work Experience:

Requirements include possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a Registered Nurse by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing and recognition as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing. Must have Prescriptive Authority.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

Requirements include: knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and chemistry; of medical diagnosis techniques, methods and procedures; of the theory, principles and practice of nursing; of methods and procedures of the laboratory; diagnosis techniques; of pharmaceutical agents, their usage and contraindications; of minor surgical procedures and techniques; of safety and safety practices; and of medical management techniques. Ability is required to conduct examinations and health assessments, to provide advanced specialized nursing care, to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, to instruct and counsel clients, to interview and obtain medical information.

 

 

Other:

Position requires possible response to public health emergencies including, but not limited to, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, or catastrophic events.   The Oklahoma State Department of Health is tobacco free.  Employees are prohibited from using tobacco products throughout all indoor and outdoor areas of premises under the control of the Oklahoma State Department of Health, in all vehicles on those premises, and in state vehicles in use for OSDH business anywhere.  Applicants may be subject to a background check.
