Description:
The Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH) is recruiting to fill a position in the Center for Health Statistics, Health Care Information Division. This supervisory position will have epidemiology and statistical analysis duties including consulting with various partners on analytical reports for multiple databases including, but not limited to, Vital Statistics, the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), Induced Termination of Pregnancy (ITOP), and hospital and ambulatory surgery discharge data.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
· Serving as a lead analyst for all existing HCI databases. -Coordinating data analysis across data programs, supervising staff analysts, and coordinating report development.
· Consulting with clients and partners in response to general data requests and the preparation of reports, articles, and presentations.
· Consulting with partners to monitor, measure, and report the health care status of Oklahoma, as well as the utilization, costs and quality of health care systems.
· Providing public presentations of data in various settings.
· Consulting with partners in the coordination of grant writing and preparation of grant related reports.
· Serving as a consultant on interagency committees or task forces.
· Supervising, planning, and distributing work to others.
· Applicant must be willing and able to fulfill all job-related travel normally associated with this position.
Education and Work Experience:
Requirements consist of a master’s degree in biostatistics or epidemiology and five years experience in a field involving the use of epidemiological techniques and analysis; or a doctorate in public health and one year of qualifying experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Requirements consist of a thorough knowledge of appropriate and current assessment and analytic techniques; of medical and public health terminology; and of socio-demographic conditions. Ability to work effectively with both professional and lay people; and to be competent in presenting data in technical and non-technical settings. Strong writing skills are essential; and must be experienced with SAS statistical software and Microsoft projects. Proficiency with ArcIMS/SDE and SQL preferred. Knowledge of grant writing and quality assurance methods for data collection and analysis is required.

Position requires possible response to public health emergencies including, but not limited to, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, or catastrophic events.
