This position will provide advanced health care to women, men and children and will also address special underserved populations (Native Americans, Hispanic residents, low income residents, and rural populations).  This includes the assessment of individual health, analyzing data to determine medical and nursing needs, planning a treatment strategy to meet identified needs and evaluating responses to nursing and medical interventions. Position will provide and support functions necessary to achieve targeted health outcomes through the Oklahoma Health Improvement Plan (OHIP) Flagship Issues (Children's Health, Tobacco Cessation, Obesity Reduction, and Cardiovascular Health).  Duties include, but are not limited to:  performing comprehensive physical examinations; securing health histories; performing or ordering laboratory tests; conducting other appropriate procedures to assess the health status of patients or clients; planning a strategy to meet identified health care needs; reviewing and analyzing laboratory tests and other diagnostic data; prescribing types of birth control and medications for treatment; counseling patient on health problems, prescribing treatments and the use of drugs; providing continuity of an individualized health care program for clients; and referring or collaborating with physicians and other members of the health care team when needed.

 

Other:

Position requires possible response to public health emergencies including, but not limited to, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, or catastrophic events.  The Oklahoma State Department of Health is tobacco free.  Employees are prohibited from using tobacco products throughout all indoor and outdoor areas of premises under the control of the Oklahoma State Department of Health, in all vehicles on those premises, and in state vehicles in use for OSDH business.  Applicants may be subject to a background check.
